The Stable Opens Doors in London
A new production company, THE STABLE is unveiled this week, established exclusively to commission, develop and present new musical theatre productions. THE STABLE is backed by Ingenious Ventures, a division of Ingenious, the UK's leading creative industries investor.
THE STABLE is commissioning and producing ten shows over the next six years, each of which will be premiered and presented at off-West End and regional theatres.
In recent years, a prestigious roster of intimate London and regional theatres, have started to focus on presenting more musical theatre, and this is where THE STABLE will focus on producing their shows. THE STABLE aims to tap into and drive a growing trend for "off-West End" and regional studio musicals. These productions benefit from the critical attention and word-of-mouth that their host venues attract, and can cost as little as 10% of what it costs to mount a show at a mainstream West End theatre - but with all the benefits of top class production values. Audiences appreciate the savings on ticket prices, and also supporting smaller venues.
NEIL MARCUS the managing director of THE STABLE says: "I have never known such a groundswell of talent in the UK - a new wave of writers (composers, lyricists and dramatists) are poised to shake up the musical theatre world. With Ingenious' support - financial, operational and creative - THE STABLE is well positioned to achieve our goal of championing an incredible talent pool of new writers who are poised to take centre stage.''
