The Famous Spiegeltent to Move to George Street for August - Partnership with The Assembly Rooms
By: James T Harding
The Edinburgh City Council have approved plans to close George Street, Edinburgh, for David Bates' Famous Spiegeltent and an al fresco festival area promoted jointly with Tommy Sheppard's Assembly Rooms, according to Brian Ferguson of the Scotsman.
"The venues will be competing with Assembly Theatre and Underbelly in the south side this August, in an area around Edinburgh University’s main campus, which has seen an influx of shows in recent years," commented Ferguson.
Based in George Square since 2002, The Famous Spiegeltent was forced to relocate to make room for William Burdett-Coutts's Assembly Theatre last year.
