THE WHITE CARNATION to Kick Off Finborough Theatre's Winter 2013-14 Season; Lineup Announced!

By:

Our Winter Season includes all the strands of our multi-award-winning artistic policy with a rediscovery (R. C. Sherriff's The White Carnation, unseen in over 60 years); musical theatre (with the world premiere of a new British musical, Lost Boy, and the professional world premiere of Ivor Novello's very last musical, Valley of Song); and new writing with the debut of three new playwrights (Operation Crucible, Carthage, The Domino Heart). We also introduce a new series - TheGreatWar100 - which will present works commemorating the centenary of the First World War over the next five years.

The season opens with the first production in 60 years of R. C. Sherriff's supernatural drama, The White Carnation, playing 26 November - 21 December 2013; accompanied on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 1-17 December 2013 by the world premiere of Operation Crucible, a debut play by Kieran Knowles, set against the backdrop of the Sheffield Blitz.

January sees two productions featured in both our already acclaimed Celebrating British Music Theatre series, and our new TheGreatWar100 series: the world premiere of a new British musical by Phil Willmott - Lost Boy - a dark sequel to Peter Pan, playing 31 December 2013 - 25 January 2014; and the professional world premiere of Ivor Novello's very last musical, Valley of Song on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 5-21 January 2014.

The season comes to a close with two new writing debuts, in productions commissioned by the Finborough Theatre - Carthage, a hard hitting first play about the care system by our new Playwright on Attachment Chris Thompson, plays from 28 January-28 February 2014. It is accompanied by The Domino Heart, the European premiere and the UK debut of award-winning Canadian playwright Matthew Edison, on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 2-18 February 2014.
