THE TAMING OF THE SHREW to Play New Wimbledon Theatre, Begin. May 26
The Taming of the Shrew will run May 26th - June 20th, 2015 at New Wimbledon Studio. Press Night: May 27th 2015, 7:45pm.
Critically acclaimed theatre company Arrows & Traps, formerly known as The Shakespeare Sessions at the Lion and Unicorn, are proud to announce their new exciting season of Shakespeare plays at the New Wimbledon.
With previous accolades including multiple 5 star reviews & critical acclaim, Arrows & Traps' new season at the New Wimbledon Studio starts with a gender-bending The Taming of the Shrew and continues with a grisly Titus Andronicus later this year. With support from patrons such as Gyles Brandreth, this exciting new company are setting the benchmark for new adaptations of the Bard's work on the Off West End stage.
Staged as a play within a play, where roles are swapped and lines are traded, the company re- imagine The Taming of the Shrew with a full cast gender inversion that flips the whole story on its head. The result is a fiery, visceral and brutal comedy about a scathing sexual war of attrition. This is the Shakespeare that Shakespeare would have loved - a new take on an old story, protean and thrillingly articulate; a physical spectacle of spit and sawdust, packed full with luscious, venomous wit.
