Soho Theatre Announces Philip McKinley and Jenny Rainsford to Join Cast of MICROCOSM

Philip McGinley (Game of Thrones, E4's Drifters, Herding Cats; Hampstead) and Jenny Rainsford (Headlong's The Seagull, No Quarter; Royal Court) reunite after starring alongside each other in Straight (Sheffield/Bush) for the world premiere of Matt Hartley's new play which opens for a three-week run on 9 May with previews from 7 May. Joining them are John Lightbody (BBC's The Musketeers) and Christopher Brandon (50 Ways to Leave Your Lover; Bush)

Alex has his flat. His home. He's building a life with Clare. Nothing can derail his happiness, not even their Tom Cruise obsessed neighbour, who is always coming round. He just wishes those kids would stop hanging round outside his house. But they're just kids, with nothing to do, they're not dangerous, right?

Christopher Brandon's theatre credits include Moon Tiger (Bath Theatre Royal), The Great Gatsby (Wilton's Music Hall), Mixed Marriage (Finborough), The Charming Man, Mad Funny Just (Theatre503), 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover (Bush Theatre), A Midsummer Night's Dream, Timon of Athens (Shakespeare's Globe), Henry V (Royal Exchange), As You Like It (Sheffield Crucible, and Royal Shakespeare Company) and When Five Years Pass (Arcola Theatre).

John Lightbody recently appeared in BBC's The Musketeers. Theatre credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream (Lyric Hammersmith, Manchester Royal Exchange & Latitude), Sixty-Six Books (Bush), Ghost Stories, (Duke of York's Theatre, West End), Three Sisters (Lyric Hammersmith / Filter), Treasure Island (Theatre Royal Haymarket), The English Game (Headlong), Richard III (Southwark Playhouse), Jane Eyre (Shared Experience), The Taming of the Shrew, Measure for Measure, Richard III (RSC) and As You Like It (National Theatre).

Philip McGinley is best known for playing Anguy the Archer in HBO's Game of Thrones and Mark in E4's Drifters. Theatre credits include Straight (Sheffield/Bush), Herding Cats (Hampstead / Ustinov, Bath), Canary (ETT / Liverpool Playhouse / Hampstead), The Changeling (Cheek by Jowl), Great Expectations (RSC), The Daughter in Law, Hobson's Choice (Sheffield Crucible) and Kes (Manchester Royal Exchange). Other television includes Coronation Street.

Jenny Rainsford graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2011 and has since appeared in Straight (Sheffield/Bush), The Seagull (Headlong), No Quarter (Royal Court) and The Importance of Being Earnest (Rose Theatre, Kingston). Television includes Da Vinci's Demons and The Smoke. Film includes About Time and Prometheus


Microcosm will play at the Soho Theatre Upstairs, 7 - 25 May 2014 (not Mondays) at 7.15pm. The running time is 90 mins. Recommended for ages 15+.
