Six Young Musicians Compete For Marlowe Young Musician of the Year Today
This February, six musicians will be competing for the title of The Marlowe Young Musician of the Year. These talented youngsters, aged between 14 and 18, are on stage at The Marlowe Theatre for the competition today, 4 February, where they will be accompanied by the Kent Concert Orchestra, conducted by John Perkins. Classic FM's Jane Jones will present the evening.
The finalists are: Ben Goldscheider, who plays the horn and is a student at The Royal College of Music; Hannah Parry, violin, Kent College, Canterbury; Matt Roberts, cello, St Edmund's School, Canterbury; Lara Smith, violin, Highworth Grammar School, Ashford; Natalie Yip, piano, King's School, Canterbury; and Olivia Ziani, violin, Tunbridge Wells Girls' Grammar School.
John Perkins said: "As usual, I know the standard will be high, the competition fierce and the decision difficult - it all makes for a great night's entertainment!"
Tickets for The Marlowe Young Musician Of The Year, which starts at 7.30pm, are £14 and £16 with a special rate of £8 for all those aged under 26 years (other concessions available), from the Box Office on 01227 787787 or marlowetheatre.com.
