Sell A Door Theatre Company Presents KIDNAPPED, 27-31 May

By:

From the producers of the hit U.K tours of Avenue Q, Spring Awakening (2011) and Dracula (2010), Sell A Door Theatre company comes an all-new swashbuckling adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's timeless family adventure tale, Kidnapped.

Sailing onto the B2 stage just in time for half-term from Tues 27 - Sat 31 May, Kidnapped is an epic adventure tale of bravery and brotherhood set against the fierce social and political backdrop of 1750s' Scotland.

Adapted by emerging playwright Ivan Wilkinson, and imaginatively directed by Anna Fox, the show is full of physical storytelling, puppetry and wild imagination.

Davey Balfour is secretly Kidnapped on a ship to be sold into slavery after his uncle tries to cheat him out of his inheritance. Davey has to grow up fast, as he is thrown into the weird and wonderful life on-board Hoseason's ship which pushes him to the very edge of his nerve.

But Davey's luck take a turn when he meets the infamous Alan Breck on a shipwreck, and the two unlikely friends set out to help one another through the wild, rough and lawless Scottish Highlands.

Director Anna Fox says "Presenting Kidnapped on stage presents an amazing opportunity to explore storytelling - what makes the novel so beloved is its ability to captivate audiences young and old, and placing its characters on stage combines Stevenson's gripping plot with the immediacy and excitement of live performance"

*** "Irresistibly invigorating, Sell A Door company takes the book's spirit and runs with it in Anna Fox's big, bold production that goes beyond politics to something deeper."

The Glasgow Herald

"Beautiful music, drama - really slick. The children are really enjoying it. Scottish history in action in a very interesting way, everything is just wonderful."
