Photo Flash: First Look at Riverside Studios' THE GREAT GATSBY

Michael Lindall is the face of London's latest Jay Gatsby as Ruby in the Dust's acclaimed stage version of the American literature classic The Great Gatsby returns to the London stage the very same week as Baz Luhrmann's Gatsby Hollywood movie opens in the UK. Check out a first look at the production below!

The Great Gatsby's sold-out run at the King's Head Theatre in Isington in 2012 led to three Off West Award nominations for Best Musical, Best Costume Designer and Best Lighting Designer and it was named Time Out's Show of the Week.

Now the critically acclaimed play with music, based on the classic American novel by F Scott Fitzgerald is returning for a second London season, at Riverside Studios, this time with the addition of a new Jay Gatsby, several new songs, new orchestrations, and sparkling choreography by award-winning Lee Proud, who is joining the creative team.

Gatsby (Lindall) is the man who has everything. But one thing will always be out of his reach... Beneath the shimmering surface of his life he is hiding a secret: a silent longing that can never be fulfilled. And soon this destructive obsession will force his world to unravel...

Michael Lindall's previous stage roles include The Busy Body, The Belle's Strategem, Love & Money, and Sparkleshark, all at Southwark Playhouse, and he will be seen in the upcoming feature film, Hammer Of The Gods.

Matilda Sturridge, who won rave reviews at the King's Head Theatre, once again plays the pivotal central role of Daisy Buchanan, the woman for whom Gatsby would sacrifice everything for. Matilda is part of a growing theatrical dynasty. She has just returned from New York where last week she saw her older brother, Tom Sturridge, another of the rising stars of the British acting scene (who's engaged to be married to Sienna?Miller), open to great success on Broadway in Orphans starring alongside Alec Baldwin. Their father, Charles Sturridge, directed the classic 1981 TV series of Brideshead Revisited and their mother, Phoebe Nicholls, appeared in it.

The Great Gatsby, will run in rep from Tuesday 21 May - Saturday 8 June together with the world premiere of Hutch, a play with music also by Joe?Evans and directed by Linnie?Reedman, about the rise and fall of Leslie 'Hutch' Hutchinson, London's most popular cabaret attraction of the 20s and 30s, whose love affair with both Cole Porter and Edwina, wife of Lord Louis Mountbatten, caused a high society scandal.
