TV star Samantha Womack was in Canterbury yesterday (Sunday) to launch this year's Marlowe Theatre pantomime.

The actress, whose character Ronnie Mitchell returns to EastEnders next week, will play Fairy Sugarsnap in Jack And The Beanstalk.

It was her first visit to the city, and she was impressed: "It's beautiful. I imagine it will look really lovely at Christmas and I'm looking forward to being here for the pantomime."

Sam was joined by CBeebies' Mister Maker, Phil Gallagher, who plays Billy, Ben Roddy (Dame Trott), Lloyd Hollett (Fleshcreep), Gemma Sutton (Princess), Jo Parsons (Jack), and John Barr (King).

Show producer Paul Hendy said: "This was the first time the cast have all got together and it was great to see how they immediately gelled. It's going to be good to work with them from November, when rehearsals start, and I know the end result will be a giant of a pantomime!"

Jack And The Beanstalk is at The Marlowe Theatre from 29 November to 12 January. To book, call the Box Office on 01227 787787, or go to marlowetheatre.com.
