Orchestral Nonsense, Jonathan Miller, Martin Bell and et. al. Featured the Rose in June

In June the Rose Theatre (24-26 High Street, Kingston) will present a variety of entertainment for all ages, from talks on the arts and political scandals to an orchestral and poetic collaboration full of nonsense.

On Sunday 13 June at 4pm The Homemade Orchestra bring us Nonsense, a collaboration between Tim Whitehead, Colin Riley and Liam Noble will take to the stage at the Rose for ages 6 and up.

Tim, Colin and Liam have used the two books of Nonsense poetry by children's poet Laureate Michael Rosen and created a musical setting, blended together to form a dramatic ‘nonsense story'. Michael Rosen, who performs with the orchestra, is the soloist reciting his poems within a string of musical sound worlds.

Full of weird sounds, beautiful music and funky rhythms The Homemade Orchestra's Nonsense will make the perfect afternoon out for the family. Tickets are £10 and £8.

Writer, director, presenter and doctor of medicine Jonathan Miller has spent a lifetime in the arts - much of it in comedy - and comes to the Rose for one night only on Monday 14 June to talk about his career and take questions from the audience.

Jonathan has worked with a number of comedy greats including Peter Crook, Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Jack Lemmon and Kevin Spacey. This will be a unique opportunity to spend an engaging evening in Jonathan's company. Tickets are £20 and £15.

Former BBC war correspondent, author and MP for Tatton, Martin Bell will talk on Wednesday 16 June in an evening full of anecdotes and real life stories. ‘The Man in the White Suit' will discuss his latest publication A Very British Revolution which gives the unique view of the expenses scandal that rocked Parliament. Tickets are £20 and £15.
