Lexi Clare Productions presents MAIDEN SPEECH - A FESTIVAL OF FRESH FEMINIST VOICES, October 10th - October 21st, at Theatre N16.

From dark comedy to lip-sync, Shakespearean cabaret to rap, Maiden Speech is a new and exciting feminist theatre festival featuring a varied selection of original works exploring feminism today.

Bringing together ten exciting emerging artists, Maiden Speech promises to be a festival that entertains and provokes, engaging with questions of feminism and sexuality through a myriad of stories and styles. Brought to you by a team of recent Mountview graduates, each with their own distinct approach to feminism and theatre, this festival marks the first time these nine pieces have been performed on a London stage.

Festival shows include the fast-paced dark comedy Daisy, like the flower; a hilarious and heart-breaking one-woman show Purple Snowflakes and Titty Wanks; a musical one-woman show about sexuality and social conformity Inside Out; a lip-sync comedy (RE)Play; a one-woman hip-hop show in verse The White Feminist's Guide to Sex and Hip Hop; a one-woman show re-inventing the classic 90s film Pulp Fiction; a sisterly sex talk Ma, Am I Good in Bed?; a re-imagined fairytale with a capella Norwegian folk music Sisters of the Sea: The Little Mermaid Retold; and a new Shakespeare-inspired cabaret Much Ado About Hero.

Sherrill Gow, Artistic Mentor, says: "Maiden Speech unites a group of young artists, who explore and grapple with gender and sexuality in different ways; the outcomes are sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes messy and sometimes unable to solve the problems presented on stage." Sherrill is currently Senior Acting Tutor and MA Supervisor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

Theatre N16 is a trailblazing London fringe venue, focused on producing and programming top quality new writing and selected existing works. Theatre N16 is proud of their commitment to the welfare and development of creatives, operating under an Equity Fringe Agreement. This promoting and nurturing of talent means that Theatre N16 is a bastion for development within the context of a society in which the arts are increasingly struggling to stay afloat.
