For the first time ever, with Olivier Award winner Simon Stephens' new play Morning, the Lyric Hammersmith is incorporating its celebrated work with young people into its main strand of artistic programming.

Written especially for a cast of performers from the LyRic Young Company, and staged by an established team of theatre makers, Simon Stephens' new play receives its London premiere at the Lyric following a run at this summer's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Growing out of a process of research and development with performers from the Junges Theater Basel and the LyRic Young Company, and using a heightened theatrical language, Morning depicts with strange savagery that particular moment when children enter adulthood, as Stephanie and her friends stumble towards an uncertain future.

The performers and creative team are working with young musician and DJ Michael Czepiel to produce an original soundtrack for the show. This is the second time that Lyric Hammersmith Artistic Director Sean Holmes and Simon Stephens have collaborated together, following their UK premiere of Pornography for the Traverse and Birmingham Repertory Theatre in 2008.
