Based on the well-loved book by Michael Rosen, this adaptation by Barb Jungr and Peter is brought to life in a brand new puppetry production with extraordinary music and lyrics by renowned singer/songwriter Barb Jungr and puppet design by Lyndie Wright. Peter Glanville directs and the set design is by Simon Plumridge.

The press showing is on Saturday, 18 May at 3.30 pm. Running time is approximately 45 minutes and critics are encouraged to bring a young companion.

The cast is Lowri James, Mabel Jones, Gilbert Taylor and George Williams.

WE'RE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT. WE'RE GOING TO CATCH A BIG ONE. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY! WE'RE NOT SCARED.

A family go on an expedition of a lifetime; running down the grassy bank, wading across the cold river, squelching over the oozy mud, stumbling through the dark forest, then peering into a cave..

Former Children's Laureate MICHAEL ROSEN is well-known at Little Angel. His play GIVE US A HAND toured all over London in 2006 and more recently for the theatre he wrote the sequel to THE TEMPEST, THE MAGICIAN'S DAUGHTER. He is a Patron of the theatre.

Although Barb Jungr is internationally acclaimed as a cabaret vocalist, she is a multi-talented artist who works in a number of disciplines. Her work as a lyricist, writer and songwriter has been seen at many UK theatres and her 2010 play for Little Angel THE FABULOUS FLUTTERBYS captivated audiences before touring in 2011.

PETER GLANVILLE has been Artistic Director of Little Angel since 2006. He has not only directed many of the children's classics for which the theatre is rightly famous but introduced puppetry for adults alongside it, most notably the biennial SUSPENSE FESTIVAL (coming up in October/ November 2013). His production of THE TEMPEST (co-produced with the Royal Shakespeare Company) was one of the highlights of the theatre's 50th anniversary in 2011 and his recent play THE TEAR THIEF was nominated for an OffWestEnd Award.

Peter Glanville said today "We are delighted that Little Angel Theatre will be producing one of the most enduring and well-loved children's stories. Whilst the rhyme and story are perfect to adapt for younger children, Helen Oxenbury's illustrations have been an endless source of inspiration for Lyndie Wright's beautifully crafted puppets."

LITTLE ANGEL THEATRE is unique. It has entertained audiences for 52 years with exquisite shows and offers classes and workshops for all ages alongside its productions. The theatre prides itself on helping emerging companies who use puppetry and has recently inaugurated a new programme called FIRSTS, to assist young companies to make their professional debuts at the theatre. Little Angel also tours for eight months of the year to venues all over the UK.
