LEARN TO LAUGH WITH: KEEP CALM AND IMPROV Comes to London, Edinburgh Fringe, Summer 2014

Printworthy stars conspicuously absent in new comedy: "Learn to Laugh with: Keep Calm and Improv" at the Etcetera Theatre, London: 13-14 June 2014 and C Nova Studios, Edinburgh: 31 July-25 August 2014.

"Philip Scofield (Phil Hooks) and Darren Sham (Alastair Norgate) are both halves of delusional comedy duo Keep Calm and Improv. Together they believe they are the circuit's most quick-thinking, most hilarious improvisers.

Washed up TV comic Conrad Elster (Sam Kiss) has been booked to add a touch of class to proceedings, but with a die-hard drug dependency and mounting tension with the sociopathic Scofield it can only end in disaster.

Squirm in your seat through their unique blend of woeful improv, satire and musical comedy as their self-aggrandised dreams of Fringe success are washed away by a deluge of incompetence, audience abuse, and petty conflict."

Keep Calm and Improv are a spoof comedy double act created by Phil Hooks & Alastair Norgate. Developed across London's open-mic circuit over 2013 with regular headline spots at The Hideaway and Torrianos in North London, their chaotic combination of anticomedy, character comedy and shortform impro games has delighted and unsettled audiences in equal measure. Learn to Laugh with: Keep Calm and Improv is their debut full length narrative comedy show, produced by Jim Dunn.

Phil Hooks and Alastair Norgate have been creating theatre comedy together since they met in 2005 as members of the National Youth Theatre. In 2009 Phil wrote, and Alastair starred in dark satirical comedy Stop the Press! with SJC Productions at the Etcetera Theatre. This was followed in 2010 by The Babykillers.

Alastair worked with the National Theatre as part of 2013 'Futurefest' event in Shoreditch Town Hall and in Life Game at the Science Museum with Non Zero One. At the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Alastair played Jimmy Porter in SJC Productions' Look Back in Anger to critical acclaim. Phil played Scrooge in Dickens' A Christmas Carol produced by Alexandra Palace in their found space Victorian theatre December 2013 & 2012 and writes for longrunning topical satire show NewsRevue at the Canal Cafe.

Phil, Sam and Alastair worked together on comedy/theatre projects during their mutual time at Royal Holloway, University of London where Phil and Alastair studied Drama/Theatre Studies and Sam read History and Politics. Sam is currently undertaking a Dphil in Politics at Oxford University.
