Things never run according to plan.

Tim just wanted to find a hotel. Unfortunately Stanley had other ideas. A tramp in Brighton...during conference season....with a bag of glue and a stack of magazines.

What could possibly go wrong?

Spam and Beans

27th, 28th and 29th May

Tickets: £10

Quiz show doyens Spam and Beans have been thrilling audiences with their World Famous Quiz shows for almost four years. Their penchant for dance routines, aggressive use of sellotape and razor sharp come backs have helped earn them a bit of a cult following.

Space to Create at the Roundhouse initially supported them in developing and presenting The Wedding to much acclaim and Spam and Beans are thrilled to be sharing a slice of the cake and a second romantic dance with the fabulous Kings Head Theatre.

Review of Tea with the Old Queen

"Funny Poignant Moving Witty Play"
by Philip Herbert for remotegoat on 11/05/10
Take a BAFTA award winning writer Graham Woolnough and a very experienced and well loved actor Hugh Futcher, add a cocktail of behind-the-scenes goings on, the meet-and-greets and the pressing-of-the-flesh and we end up with a riot of a play.

Based upon the 'secret' diaries of William Tallon - 'Steward and Page of the Backstairs to the Queen Mother' - Backstairs Billy has seen and done it all.
With discretion and diplomacy he tidies up any little royal mishaps, plays Dame in the party panto at Christmas, dances with her Maj and even sprays air fresher after Prince Philip 'lets one off'.

The script is superb, the acting faultless and a very happy audience rolled along lovingly as Billy spilled the beans; Princess Margaret on the Scotch and Benson&Hedges, Charles all crestfallen and confused asking for advice, Princess Anne refusing to stop smoking indoors - even after the fire at Windsor, Her Maj welcoming the Chinese Ambassadors Mr Woo and Mr Wang, and even Tony & Cherie Blair feature as figures of fun. A silver salt shaker went missing after their visit but one can say no more!

Running at one hour and twenty with a very short interval we all enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Billy even shares a few personal secrets and often pretends to be a royal himself 'The Duke of Hands-Hard'.
Her Maj was in the audience - Lookalike Actress Elizabeth Richard graciously attended which added an even greater sense of authenticity. Its on again next Monday 17th May and well worth a longer run.
Lighting, sound and video effects were superb and the entire team must be wholeheartedly congratulated.

Backstairs Billy did us proud.
