Get Carter Returns To The Courtyard Theatre
"Get Carter" is returning to its second home of the Courtyard Theatre, Hoxton, for a four day run next week hot on the heels of its popularly-successful outing at the Edinburgh Festival.
The Brighton-based production, an adaptation of the original novel by TEd Lewis that inspired the iconic 1971 movie, was last seen at the Pitfield Street venue in July.
Lead actor, and West Sussex firefighter, Nick Bartlett is relishing a return to the role, even if it is a far cry from trading gunshots with Brad Pitt for the upcoming blockbuster World War Z. "It starts off very tense and violent and carries on the same way," he says of the play. "I don't think it lets up for a second."
Jonathan Holloway's adaptation, directed by James Weisz, relocates the action back to its original Scunthorpe setting and has received numerous critical and audience plaudits during its various Brighton, London and Edinburgh runs, including four stars from The Scotsman.
The play returns to The Courtyard boasting an experienced cast and a new audience-immersive design for its three day run between the 22nd and 25th September. Whether it will return again, not even Jack Carter knows.
"Get Carter", Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th September. Courtyard Theatre, Bowling Green Walk, Pitfield Street Hoxton N1 6EU (nearest tube: Old Street). 8 pm. Prices: 12.50 / 10.00
