February Sees Another Exciting Month Of Shows At The Marlowe Studio In Canterbury

Comedy fans can enjoy Zoe Lyons with Entry Level Human (Friday 8 February), The Alternative Comedy Show (Wednesday 13 February) and Andrew Maxwell's Showtime (Friday 15 February). Giants Of Science (Sunday 17 February) is a raucous romp through the history of scientific stupidity.

There's a full programme of drama, starting with In Other Words (Thursday 7 February), a play exploring the power of music. Shylock (Thursday 14 February) tells the tragic, funny and often unbelievable life of fiction's most famous Jew, while The Shy Manifesto (Tuesday 19 February) is a bittersweet coming-of-age drama. It stars Theo Ancient, who was in the West End production of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child. Unmythable (Wednesday 27 February) promises to tell all the Greek myths in just one hour.

The ever-popular Laid Bare Cabaret (Saturday 16 February) will be staging another of its famous Valentine's specials, and mind reader Luke Jermay will bring his new show Intuition (Thursday 28 February and Friday 1 March). Derren Brown says that Luke "puts the rest of us mind-readers to shame", so it should be quite a show.

There'll also be a range of shows to keep children entertained during the February half-term break. There'll be stand-up for children over six, their parents and anyone else who likes comedy without the rude bits, from James Campbell (Monday 18 February). Let's All Dance return with their ballet version of Alice In Wonderland (Thursday 21 and Friday 22 February), which is especially adapted for children aged two to nine. At The Marlowe Kit (on Stour Street) there's The Goose Who Flew (Tuesday 19 Feb), a heartfelt story about compassion, community and understanding, perfect for children aged three to seven.

Also at The Kit, there's folk music from traditional trio Faustus (Friday 1 February) and LicKity Spit, Canterbury's new poetry slam event (Wednesday 20 February).

The Marlowe Studio continues to support local talent with The University of Kent Musical Theatre Society presenting Rent and The Really Promising Company's A la Emma, both in February.

All these shows are on sale at marlowetheatre.com or by calling the Box Office on 01227 787787.
