EXPERIENTIAL DANCE, the fast rising UK dance/theatre company founded just two years ago by filmmaker and artistic director Rachel Johnson, tour their new production 'BRIDGING THE VOID' in spring 2016.

'BRIDGING THE VOID' is an absorbing, unusual, beautiful piece of dance/theatre/film choreographed by Rachel Johnson and performed by three dancers to an hypnotic original score by composer James Welland and beautifully filmed sequences of sunrises by cameraman Jonathan Binks. A flowing movement vocabulary entices the audience to participate; as a result the traditional boundary between performer and viewer is eliminated and a shared experience develops throughout the 45 minute piece.

'Bridging The Void' starts as the audience enter the theatre in complete darkness. The space is already occupied by the three dancers, the sounds of the sunrise location, the sound of a woman breathing, a haunting musical score. The performance unfolds around the audience who are encouraged to wander around, encounter the performers and react to the production as it develops.

Says Rachel Johnson: "I want to give audiences the opportunity to get involved in the performance; to hear, see and feel the beauty of the sunrise and the movement both emotionally and physically. When we performed 'Bridging the Void' in a handful of venues last year, audiences were initially curious, intrigued; then, as the sun rises over the city of London, in our film, curiosity gave way to a relaxing atmosphere and people were happy to join in, enjoy the experience and leave the theatre feeling uplifted."
