EDINBURGH 2010: BWW Reviews: SECTOR 17 (Greenside)
I'd give a plot summary of Sector 17, but I'm not sure what was going on, and they didn't give out a programme or a cast list. I gather this show was written by one of this young persons' theatre group, and certainly the score shows some promise (though some of the lyrics and dialogue need work - the evil laugh employed by the baddie and his henchmen throughout got more than a little wearing, as did the running around the tiny stage and in and out of the auditorium). The choral singing from these young people was exceptional, with harmony lines working extremely well; the lead actors weren't outstanding solo singers but they all did well with what they had.
I'm guessing Sector 17 is a work in progress, and if that's the case this is an interesting first staging, offering much potential for the future.
