Double-hit Of Living Spit Headed For The Weston Studio

The brilliantly bonkers comedy duo Living Spit are set to return to Bristol Old Vic for a Weston Studio takeover with their brand new show Giants of Science and the return of their Christmas cracker Living Spit's Nativity!

Living Spit is made up of Somerset superstars Howard Coggins (Treasure Island, Up The Feeder Down The 'Mouth, Peter Pan) and Stu Mcloughlin (Up The Feeder Down The 'Mouth, Peter Pan), whose love affair with Bristol Old Vic began after meeting in 1997, when Stu was part of the Bristol Old Vic Young Company and Howard was a regular actor at Bristol Old Vic. The duo returned to the stage together in 2012 as the newly formed Living Spit to delight Bristol audiences with The Six Wives of Henry VIII, followed by Adolf & Winston (2013). They have been creating their unique brand of theatrical craziness ever since.

This year, Howard and Stu are going back to where it all began and rekindling their Bristol Old Vic links with Giants of Science from 30 Oct - 3 Nov. Despite knowing nothing about Science, Living Spit have agreed to give a lecture on the subject and have enlisted the help of the smartest scientific sages of the ages.

But even with the likes of Albert Einstein, Galileo, Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin along for the ride, the chances of the dim-witted duo making it through the evening with any sense of dignity remaining intact seems less than likely. Still, they're determined - like a pair of atoms missing a couple of electrons - to stay positive.

With jarring jokes, pitiful puppetry, and the silliest of scientific songs, you can expect this raucous romp through the hilarious history of scientific stupidity to be... well, if nothing else, thoroughly entertaining. Fantastic for families with kids aged 12 and up, Giants of Science will be playing in The Weston Studio for some scien-triffic fun.

If that isn't enough of a fix, Living Spit will be returning with "more laughs than any other in the festive period" (StageTalk Magazine, ? ? ? ? ?) with their take on the iconic Christmas story. After their triumphant reimagining of Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol ("hilarious... the jokes are brilliantly bad and the songs are wonderful" Bristol 24/7) and with the usual mix of songs and puppetry, Howard and Stu's Nativity promises to bring more Biblical befuddlement than you can shake a Figgy Pudding at.

With a whole host of unforgettable comic characters, this cornucopia of comic Christmassy crudeness is not one for the faint hearted. For naughty audiences aged 14+, Living Spit's Nativity will play from 14 - 22 Dec in The Weston Studio.

Both productions will be directed by Living Spit's very own Craig Edwards, whose work includes Penetrator at Bristol Old Vic and Mother Savage and The Mysterious Vanishment of Pobby & Dingan for Travelling Light. Craig has previously directed The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Frankenstein The Musical and Nativity for Living Spit.
