Clarke Peters, Jasper Britton and More Set for Hampstead Theatre's RACE; Full Cast Announced!

Hampstead Theatre will present the UK Premiere of Race by David Mamet, directed by Terry Johnson and designed by Tim Shortall with lighting by Mark Henderson, running Thursday 23 May to Saturday 29 June 2013. Press night is set for Wednesday 29 May at 7 PM.

Clarke Peters and Jasper Britton will be joined by Charles Daish and Nina Toussaint-White in the UK premiere of David Mamet's gripping drama Race, directed by Terry Johnson.

A hotel room in disarray - lamps broken, cigarette butts, liquor bottles - a red sequin dress, and a man accused of rape... The accused is white, the accuser black. Two lawyers, one black and one white, must uncover and sift the facts of the case. Is the man guilty? And, irrespective of that, can his case be won?

Clarke Peters plays Henry. His many stage credits include Othello (Sheffield Crucible), Five Guys named Moe and its recent revival, which he conceived. Other credits include Porgy and Bess (Savoy Theatre), Simply Heavenly (Trafalgar Studios), Mourning Becomes Electra, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (National Theatre), The Iceman Cometh (Almeida Theatre and Broadway), Chicago (West End and Broadway) and Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Shaftesbury Theatre). For television, his work includes Treme, Damages, The Wire, The Corner, Jonathan Creek, Medics and Masculine Ending; and for film, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, Freedomland, Gulliver's Travels, Valediction, Endgame, Marley and Me and Notting Hill.

Jasper Britton plays Jack. His theatre work includes Mother Adam(Jermyn Street Theatre), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Abbey Theatre), The Taming Of The Shrew (RSC, Washington D.C. and West End), Marat/Sade (RSC), The Beggar's Opera (Open Air Theatre), Plague Over England (Finborough Theatre), The Tempest (Globe Theatre), Japes (Theatre Royal Haymarket) and Fram and Oedipus (National Theatre,London). Film credits include The New World and Blood (BBC Films).

Charles Daish plays Charles. His stage credits include Mamma Mia (International Tour) A Streetcar Named Desire (Donmar), The Light in the Piazza (Leicester Curve), Rain Man (Apollo Theatre), Chains of Dew (Orange Tree), Trifles (Orange Tree), Julius Caesar (RSC/Lyric Hammersmith) and Journey's End (Duke of Yorks). Television and film credits include Nixon's One (BBC), Midsomer Murders (ITV), A Mother's Son (ITV) and I Shouldn't Be Alive (Discovery).

Nina Toussaint-White plays Susan. Nina is currently appearing as Jude in ITV's Switch. Her many screen roles include Scott and Bailey (ITV), Whitechapel (ITV), Doctor Who (BBC), Daughters (BBC), Eastenders (BBC), Primeval (ITV) and The Fun Police.

Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet's (Glengarry Glen Ross, Oleanna, American Buffalo, The Spanish Prisoner, The Untouchables and Speed-the-Plow) searing drama is a topical detective story about the perceptions and realities that colour our world - and the subtle shades between being a victim and being victimised.

Olivier award winner Terry Johnson returns to Hampstead Theatre following the sell-out hit Old Money last season. His other productions at Hampstead include The Memory of Water, Cracked and Dead Funny. He has directed numerous West End and Broadway favourites such as the Tony Award winning La Cage Aux Folles, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and his stage adaptation of The Graduate.
