Casting Announced For BILLIONAIRE BOY at the Belgrade Theatre

Following the announcement of an exciting new co-production with Nuffield Southampton Theatres, the Belgrade Theatre Coventry is thrilled to reveal full casting for its forthcoming musical adaptation of David Walliams' Billionaire Boy.

Written by Jon Brittain (Margaret Thatcher: Queen of Soho, Rotterdam), Billionaire Boy The Musical will feature music by prolific pop song writers Miranda Cooper and Nick Coler, whose previous work includes tracks for Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Alesha Dixon and Kylie Minogue. The show is directed by Luke Shepard (In the Heights, Murder for Two) with casting by Annelie Powell, and runs in Southampton over Christmas, before transferring to Coventry in February 2019.

Ryan Heenan (Moonfleet, Grease, Peter Pan) stars in the title role as Joe Spud, a young boy whose life is transformed when his father becomes unexpectedly rich after inventing a new kind of toilet paper - Bum Fresh. Dean Nolan (Brief Encounter, Big Fish) co-stars as Joe's billionaire father, Len, alongside Avita Jay (Bring on the Bollywood, The Secret Garden) as his girlfriend Sapphire.

Playing Joe's best friend, Bob, will be Lem Knights (The One Hundred and One Dalmatians, One Love: The Bob Marley Musical), with Sophia Nomvete (Miss Littlewood, Vice Versa) co-starring as Bob's Mum.

Jared Leathwood and Natalie Morgan (Gala, Mountains of Madness) will play school bullies Sue and Dave Grubb, while Eleanor Kane (Fun Home) plays the mysterious Lauren. Completing the cast as Musical Director/Ensemble and Drummer/Ensemble respectively are Alex "Teddy" Clements (Fortune Lane, Things We're Learning Now) and newcomer Daisy Noir.

Imagine being the wealthiest child in the land!

One-day, single dad and factory worker Len Spud invents a new loo roll "Bum Fresh - wet on one side, dry on the other", and the wiping-wonder becomes an instant hit! Len and his son Joe become overnight billionaires, turning their lives upside-down.

Whilst Mr Spud spends, spends, spends on fast cars, 100-inch TVs, and lavish gifts for his glamorous new girlfriend, Sapphire Diamond, Joe is left to fend for himself.

In the unforgiving world of the school playground, things are about to get more complicated. With his new best friend, Bob, at his side, Joe navigates an assault course of school bullies and dangerously inedible canteen food. To make matters worse, is the impossibly pretty new girl Lauren might not be all that she appears to be...

Can money really buy happiness? Or is their more to life than all the stuff you own? This hilarious new musical turns David Walliams' bestselling book into a triumphant treat for the whole family that will wipe the floor with other musical productions!

Billionaire Boy The Musical shows at the Belgrade Theatre 20-23 February 2019. Tickets are available to book now by calling the box office on 024 7655 3055, or visiting www.belgrade.co.uk where prices are even cheaper.
