YPT Presents World Premiere Of ANTIGONE Jeff Ho's Contemporary Adaptation Of The Greek Classic

Young People's Theatre (YPT) is thrilled to present Antigone: by Jeff Ho. An urgently contemporary adaptation of the classic Greek story, inspired by the 2014 Umbrella Movement student protests in Hong Kong and the 1989 uprising in Tiananmen Square, Antigone: will be presented 'in the round' on YPT's Mainstage April 29 to May 16.

In this riveting new play, re-education awaits anyone who questions the state's traditional doctrine. Antigone faces high stakes as she stands up for her brother against her father's will. In the courage of a young woman, there is hope for the future

The theatre is an arena of symbols, one where metaphor can whisper to the conscious mind, and ask us to reflect, together, in one communal space, alternative possibilities to the way we live as humans. It is as old as time, as primal as storytellers huddled around fire, and as necessary as air.
