Co-Artistic Directors David Hogan and David Rogers have announced Victoria Playhouse Petrolia's 2019 Season.

When asked about the line up for the upcoming season, Hogan explained, "One of the biggest questions people asked at the end of last year's season was, 'How do we top 2018?' The answer is: we don't. We celebrate our past successes and we move forward to create new stories, new memories with great music and talent! We've been blessed with a community of theatregoers that celebrate with us the joy and spirit we have here at the VPP creating more than just a show. We believe in making it an event! The entire team here look forward to the new season of great energy with our friends, the audiences of the VPP!"

Director of Marketing, Arts and Communications for The Town of Petrolia, Laurissa Ellsworth echoed their sentiments, saying, "Hot on the heels of a highly successful 2018 season, the dynamic team of David Hogan and David Rogers and Mark Payne have done it again! The 2019 Season is an invitation for our friends to gather here as we celebrate the arts, share joy and get down and have a great time!"

APRIL 30 - MAY 18

With toe tapping tunes and beautiful harmonies, this celebratory musical experience interweaves the songs and stories of two inspirational singer-songwriters. Long-time friends, James Taylor and Carole King were the dream team of the Baby Boom era and their classic music continues to have an impact on all of us to this day. Songs include: I Feel The Earth Move, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, How Sweet It Is, Fire and Rain, You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman, Sweet Baby James & You've Got A Friend.

It's a Sunny Celebration of one of the most iconic years in music & pop culture, with songs from The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Elvis and The Guess Who, to television classics like Hee Haw and Sesame Street. So turn up the radio and let's travel back a half-century to the carefree summer of groovy tunes ... and the first man on the moon. Songs include: Galveston, Sugar Sugar, Everyday People, These Eyes, A Boy Named Sue, Honky Tonk Women, Get Together, In The Ghetto, and Sweet Caroline...bah, bah, bah!

JULY 2 - 21

Everyone is a suspect in this hilarious musical murder mystery with a twist: One actor investigates the crime. The other plays all of the suspects - and both while playing the piano! One fateful night a famous novelist is killed...fatally. With a real detective nowhere to be found, a small town officer has the chance to prove his sleuthing skills. Multitalented VPP favourites Mark Payne and Alex Baerg are sure to put the 'laughter' in 'manslaughter.'

THE NEW CANADIAN CURLING CLUB

AUGUST 6 - 25

Written by Mark Crawford

From Mark Crawford, the playwright who brought us the smash hit The Birds and the Bees, comes a new comedy set in a small town in rural Southwestern Ontario with an ice rink, a refugee resettlement, and a 'Learn to Curl' class. Trouble is, the reluctant coach has some strong opinions about immigrants. What follows is a hilarious and inspiring story of a group of unlikely would-be athletes who face off against local prejudice to become a true team.

Get ready to swing your partner, kick up your heels & boogie in your boots 'cause David Hogan is hosting a Hoedown. By overwhelming supply and demand, David takes the stage for the first time at the VPP. You'll laugh your overalls off and stomp your two left feet as you witness the most electrifying hootenanny this side of Watford. Featuring classics like Cow Patti and May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose ...at least he think they're classics.

Starring David Rogers

When Dracula: A Chamber Musical premiered at the Stratford Festival, the response was tremendous. It has since played world-wide, including a highly successful concert version starring David Rogers (cast by the composer). With Rogers again in the iconic role, along with a company of stellar voices and musicians, we are thrilled to present this phenomenal concert to you. So 'Let the Night Begin' and experience this classic story like never before.

Further casting details will be announced at a later date. VIP to the VPP member ticket sales begin November 2, with Group Tickets going on sale November 8.
