THINGS DRUGS TAUGHT ME Comes to Toronto Fringe

By:
Acclaimed storytellers Nisha Coleman and Jeff Gandell have had wildly contrasting drug experiences. Gandell spent his adolescence in a pot-induced haze, while Coleman's universe melts after eating a hash cupcake in high school. Gandell attends rave parties while Coleman signs up to take amphetamines for a McGill drug study. In this hilarious two-hander, they share everything they have learned (and can remember) from their substance use and abuse.

Things Drugs Taught Me pushes the boundaries of storytelling. The stories are not told in a linear fashion but weave in and out of each other while Gandell and Coleman appear briefly as characters in each other's tales. The show flirts with theatre while remaining firmly grounded in the realm of storytelling. They expertly share their experiences of mind-altering trips with all the paranoia, exhilaration and bad judgment that come with them.

Coleman's solo show Self-Exile, directed by Gandell, won the 2016 Montreal Best of Fringe Award. Gandell is also presenting his solo show, The Balding, at the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival. The Balding was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2013 Montreal Fringe and his play Atomic City was nominated for the Segal Award in 2016.

Things Drugs Taught Me offers a refreshing new twist on traditional storytelling. This creative, talented duo is not to be missed.
