THE GRASS IS GREENEST AT THE HOUSTON ASTRODOME Comes to The Toronto Fringe Festival ImageHigh Park Productions is proud to present The Grass is Greenest at the Houston Astrodome, a comedy by Michael Ross Albert, directed by Robert Motum, at The Freedom Factory, July 4 - 15, 2018, at the Toronto Fringe Festival.

After premiering at the New York International Fringe Festival, this critically acclaimed play written by Dora Award nominated playwright Michael Ross Albert (Tough Jews, Miss) gets its Canadian debut-fittingly in the heart of Queen West. A site-specific production set in an art gallery, The Grass is Greenest at the Houston Astrodome is a comedy about envy, friendship, sex, art, three square-feet of AstroTurf, and the constant search for something better.

When a painter tears the artwork off the walls of a struggling independent gallery, the relationships between a group of emerging artists are also torn apart. In the chaotic aftermath that ensues, the underachieving artists grapple with their insecurities, infidelities, and their innate jealousy of one another.

Prolific playwright Michael Ross Albert's works have been performed around the world, racking up award nominations and wins for his sharp dialogue, gripping characters, and insightful take on universal themes. Along with The Grass is Greenest at the Houston Astrodome, Michael's newest play, Anywhere, will also be performed this summer at the Toronto Fringe Festival.

The Canadian premiere production will be directed by Robert Motum (King Charles III, Studio 180). Motum's play A Community Target is currently in development with Outside the March and Why Not Theatre. The project has been featured in Macleans, the Toronto Star, on CBC As It Happens, Metro, BlogTO, and internationally in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The multi-talented and uniquely experienced cast of The Grass is Greenest at the Houston Astrodome is comprised of Adrian Rebucas (Man Seeking Woman, Workin' Moms), Anne van Leeuwen (Tough Jews, The Chance), Lauren MacKinlay (Of Mice and Men, Murdoch Mysteries), Carson Pinch (Carson Saves Sketchfest, Sunday Night Live) and Richard Young (The History of Love, Kim's Convenience).
