Stephen Schwartz To Give A Master Class at la Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur
Master class à Montréal, in partnership with le Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine and Le St-Sulpice Hotel (www.lesaintsulpice.com), presents its new masterclass directed by the american composer Stephen Schwartz, which will take place on Saturday Octobre 23 2010 at la Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur.
Stephen Schwartz is one of the greatest composer of his generation. He is the author of Pippin, Godspell and Children of Eden, to name only a few. Without a doubt, in the last few years, the musical WICKED has really set him apart by its huge success. Also, he has written music and lyrics for many movies ; Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre-Dame and Enchanted, among others.
In 2009, he has been honored at the "Broadway Hall of Fame" and at the "Songwriter Hall of Fame", on top of being recognized with 3 Oscars, 4 Grammys, 1 Golden Globe and 4 Drama Desk Awards for his work already.
Fourteen participants will share the floor during this masterclass in front of the master and other observers. These participants will have to sing songs written by Mr Schwartz, who will bring them back to the essence of his masterpieces.
Master class à Montréal participates in the development of musical theatre and of its community in Montréal. Jack Latulippe and Elizabeth Cordeau Rancourt are the founding members and, in the last year, have produced masterclasses with the american artist Shoshana Bean, Legally Blonde choreographer Nick Kenkel and Québec director René Richard Cyr. Québec actor and director Robert Marien, with musical theatre artist and actor director Sergine Dumais are the resident « masters ».
