Osimous Theatre Presents The Pavilion 1/8-23, 2011

By:

All Peter wants to do is Make Up For the worst mistake of his life -that's why he brought the flowers. They should fix things, right? In Osimous Theatre's production of The Pavilion by Craig Wright (Six Feet Under, Grace), nostalgia is the (prom) king that brings everyone together, telling the story of a yearning for the past strong enough that it will drive someone to attend their 20th high school reunion.

Hailed by critics as an "an Our Town for our time," The Pavilion knits the cosmos into individual human relationships, building the entire history of the universe into one night. Peter (Craig Erickson) and Kari (Dawn Petten) haven't seen each other since the day Peter left twenty years ago... and now he's come to get her back. As the night progresses, both Peter and Kari are led, through their interactions with a host of characters all played by a virtuosic Narrator (Parnelli Parnes), to face the consequences of choices made long ago and start back into life with newfound strength and bittersweet resolve.

At the helm of the cast and company is Bob Frazer. On choosing The Pavilion for Osimous Theatre's inaugural production, he says, "I wanted to tell a great story that meant something to the artists in the ensemble and hopefully to the fans in the audience. I wanted it to be uncomplicated but challenging, honest but funny, and an actor's dream." As a company built of actors, The Pavilion became the perfect fit for Osimous Theatre's first production, boiling theatre down to its purest form: three actors, no set, a handful of props, and brilliant storytelling.

Osimous Theatre launched from a conversation between Bob Frazer and Derek Metz. Created in 2010, the company is devoted to the tenet of ensemble performance through the collaboration of a core group of actors, directors and playwrights. Through generosity and teamwork, the company's mission is to foster the growth of performance, direction and playwrighting while advancing the level of excellence in Canadian Theatre. Mutual respect, dedication and a passion for the work is at the heart of Osimous Theatre's beliefs.

"Thrilling... brilliant!" -The Boston Globe
