No Strings Theatre will be launching its 9th season with Canada's longest running musical, Anne of Green Gables The Musical August 8th-11th, at the Studio Theatre, Toronto Centre for the Arts. The performance will feature students ages 12 to 21 from across the GTA. No Strings Theatre accepts all applications, and gives participants the chance to work with professionals, and emerging professionals from the Canadian Theatre Scene; offering workshops in acting, dancing, and singing. This year's faculty includes Canadian theatre actress Alison Smyth (Jersey Boys, Evil Dead, Charlottetown Festival's Dianne in Anne of Green Gables), as stage director, Tara Litvack (Falsettos) as music director, and Natalie Brucker (co-founder of GeoMetriX Dance) as choreographer.

Anne of Green Gables The Musical closely follows the plot of the novel by the same name, written by author Lucy Maud Montgomery, and was adapted for stage by Canadian composers/writers Don Harron and Norman Campbell. The show is suitable for all ages and will connect theatre-goers and actors alike to this symbolic figure in Canadian culture.

"We believe in providing participants with an authentic, professional experience, and in providing them with the highest caliber of instructors to guide them through the process." Says Denise Williams, "Alison Smyth has an amazing vision, and sensitivity to authenticity. Audiences will be blown away by the performances she encourages from our students, and will get a little taste of some truly Canadian theatre."

No Strings Theatre sets itself apart as a youth training program by providing professional-level opportunities for its students to develop their performance skills in a musical theatre production. Founded by Canadian soprano Denise Williams in 2004 as a place where anyone could explore an interest in theatre, the program accepts all applicants regardless of prior dramatic, or musical training. Extended programs include pit orchestra training and production internships.
