The Citadel Theatre is pleased to announce the David & Janet Bentley Citadel Theatre Fund at the Edmonton Community Foundation. This new fund has been created in memory of the Bentleys, two of the theatre's most prolific donors and long-time supporters. It is a way of honouring their generosity and commitment to bettering the lives of others and creating a vibrant, healthy community.

David and Janet both passed away in 2018 after living long lives filled with kindness to those in need, and a love of theatre and Edmonton. They both bettered the world around them with their tireless generosity and thoughtful spirits. David, the founding treasurer of the Citadel, was actively involved with the theatre until his passing. Always considerate and intelligent, he excelled at offering prudent advice, particularly while serving on the Citadel Board of Directors and the Board of Governors for 53 years. Janet's steadfast support of the Citadel, as well as her dedication to the Art Gallery of Alberta, the University of Alberta, and several other organizations in Edmonton, speaks to her passion in creating a strong community for generations to come.

"The Citadel Theatre exists because of the Bentleys and the community builders that were their contemporaries. Their efforts on behalf of the Citadel for decades helped create the success we are enjoying now," says Chantell Ghosh, Citadel Theatre's Executive Director. "It was very important for us to create the fund as a legacy in honour of their dedication. It is fitting that the fund in their name will provide support to the theatre well into the future."
