Letters to Annabelle follows a Canadian soldier's desperate search for the love that kept him alive in the trenches. We bring you back to the era of WW1, as Canada marks the 2017 Centennial of the Battle of Vimy Ridge; an event which helped shape Canada's national identity.

This is the second time Panfish Productions has teamed up with playwright Stephen Joffe. Letters to Annabelle was written while Panfish was premiering his play Offers of Home which won the Panfish New Play Contest. During the entire writing process, Stephen wore a vintage army jacket that he bought in Kensington Market!

Letters to Annabelle features: Kyle Bailey, who has appeared in CBC's Heartland; Anne Van Leeuwen, who received a 2016 MyTheatre Award Nomination for Direction, and was in Storefront Theatre's Dora Nominated Tough Jews; Alexander Thomas, who received a 2012 'On The Waterfront' What's On Stage Award, and is an award winning playwright himself; and Vanessa Trenton, who has appeared in the My Theatre Award nominated Hangman (with Alexander), and in films showcased at the Reel World Film Festival. Playwright Stephen Joffe is a fine actor in his own right, having played Al in the most recent Factory Theatre Production of The Crackwalker, and Ziggie in Storefront Theatre's Dora Nominated Tough Jews. Director Yehuda Fisher received critical acclaim for his direction of The Woolgatherer in the 2015 Fringe, and is an accomplished actor and designer.

Letters to Annabelle is a new Canadian work, presented as we mark the Centennial of the Battle of Vimy Ridge - a coming-of-age for Canada. Letters to Annabelle is a coming-of-age story of a WW1 soldier, Liam, and his journey for truth and love. This show incorporates live music, burlesque performances, and utilizes the entire space at MAY - no stage and rows of seats - to allow the audience to feel like patrons of this prohibition-era establishment.
