GOD OF CARNAGE Begins Performances 11/23 at Panasonic Theatre

By:

David Mirvish and Studio 180 will present God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza as part of the new Off-Mirvish series.

Benjamin and Henry, two 11-year-old boys, have had a schoolyard fight -- serious enough that Henry has lost two teeth. That night the boys' parents, two sophisticated, highly educated and well-to-do couples, are meeting for a civil discussion of the incident. At least that's the plan. Tensions flare and the gloves come off in this hilarious, multi award-winning comedy that dares to reveal the savagery beneath society's polished facade.

Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage is undoubtedly the most successful comedy of the last decade. It won both the Olivier Award and Tony Award for best play and has had hundreds of productions around the world since its original premieres in Zurich and Paris in 2008.

Now, God of Carnage is finally having its Toronto English-language premiere at the Panasonic Theatre from November 23 - December 15, 2013. (Media performance is on Wednesday, November 27 at 8 PM.)

Director Joel Greenberg has assembled a stellar Canadian cast and rehearsals are now underway. John Bourgeois stars as Alan and Sarah Orenstein stars as his wife Annette. Linda Kash stars as Veronia and Tony Nappo stars as her husband Michael. The set and costume design is by John Thompson. The lighting design is by Kimberley Purtell and the sound design by Michael Laird. The stage manger is Andrea Schurman.God of Carnage November 23 - December 15, 2013Panasonic Theatre, 651 Yonge Street?, Toronto
