Civic Light Opera Company Set for Canadian Premiere of Richard Rodgers’ REX, 2/17-3/6

THE CIVIC LIGHT-OPERA COMPANY, Toronto's Premiere Musical Theatre, proudly presents THE CANADIAN PREMIERE of Richard Rodgers' penultimate musical REX, which plays at the Fairview Library Theatre from Feb. 17-Mar. 6. This is the first-ever post-Broadway staging of the musical which amazed audiences on Broadway in the 1975-76 season.

In the style of CAMELOT and THE KING & I, the royalty, romance and intrigue of the court of King Henry VIII is brought vividly and melodically to life in this dramatically-fascinating, musically-stirring and visually-captivating Broadway musical.

REX - the musical features a full cast and orchestra, lavish sets and costumes. It stars Joe Cascone as Henry VIII with Ashley Gibson in the dual roles of Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I, David Haines as Henry's Fool, Carol Kugler as Catherine of Aragon, Andrea Barker as Jane Seymour, Damien Gulde as Mark Smeaton, and many other Civic Light-Opera Company favourites in a stunning production not to be missed!

The show has also been personally endorsed by its writer Sherman Yellen (Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, The Rothschilds) and lyricist Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me, Fiorello) who have contributed new lyrics and other material specifically for the CLOC production.

REX - the musical opens February 17th and runs until March 6th. Evening performances are at 7:00 on Wednesdays, at 8:00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with matinees on February 21, 28 and March 6 at 2:00 pm. Venue is the FAIRVIEW LIBRARY THEATRE, 35 Fairview Mall Drive (Don Mills/Sheppard), and tickets are $25 - $27.50.
