Atlas Stage Productions Canada will be presenting Theatre of the Film Noir in the Studio Theatre of the Toronto Centre for the Arts on Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 9.

Theatre of the Film Noir is written by the prolific Canadian playwright, George F. Walker and is directed by Miroslaw Polatynski. The play is set in Paris shortly after its liberation from German occupation forces during WW II. It explores the crushing panic of people placed on the brink of hell's end and an uncertain future of peace. George F. Walkers unique Canadian perspective seeks neither heroes nor villains. Neither does he judge the aggressors nor raise monuments to heroism. He simply shows the bare structure of a human being driven by fear and a need to survive - unfettered by values generally considered humanitarian. This constitutes the timelessness and universality of the play, which encompasses all wars and its victims. Including current conflicts. World War II serves as a pretext to examine the heart of the matter. The playwright does not dwell on its tragedy as such - for we are all well aware of the obvious- but rather focuses on how easily human nature loses itself under the strain of extreme influences, when fear becomes the determining factor driving survival.

Atlas Stage Productions is a theatre company that showcases Canadian diversity to an international audience by staging productions of new Canadian works. Theatre of the Film Noir recently toured Europe in the fall and returned to Canada for a limited engagement at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga. Now audiences have another opportunity to see this production on Saturday March 7 at 8pm and Sunday March 8 at 6pm.

The play features the acting talents of Rafal Sokolowski, Aris Athanaspoulos, Heather Couch, Paul Kit, Erol Nowak, Rahaman Tunde Agiri and Marcel Stewart. Assistant Director is Taylor Graham.

All shows will be presented in English and translated into Polish simultaneously.
