Playwrights Guild of Canada's Women's Caucus has selected Artistic Director Philip Akin as the recipient of the 2011 Bra D'Or Award.
Tara Goldstein, Chair of PGC's Women's Caucus: "Under his leadership as Artistic Director, Obsidian Theatre Company has not only grown into the leading Black theatre company in the country, it has also provided an important space and a multitude of opportunities for African-Canadian women playwrights to develop and produce their work."
