Cabrillo Music Theatre Announces Matching Grant Campaign for 2014-15 Season
Cabrillo Music Theatre is proud to announce a Matching Grant with a twist:Cabrillo receives a donation for every subscription to the 2014-2015 season.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, between now and November 23rd (closing day of Cabrillo's first production, MEMPHIS), $100 will be donated toCabrillo Music Theatre's fundraising campaign for every subscription seat sold, up to $50,000, or 500 subscription seats. For businesses, the gift is even bigger -- with six or more subscription seats, $150 per seat will be donated to Cabrillo. Subscriptions at any level apply, from Premium Orchestra to Balcony, and the offer is good on the three-show Kavli Theatre season, which includes MEMPHIS, MARY POPPINS, and OKLAHOMA, or the four-show version, which also includes COMPANY, performed in the Scherr Forum. Cabrillo Music Theatre performs exclusively at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks.
While the Summer 2014 Fundraising Campaign has come to a successful close, fundraising will continue on an ongoing basis to supplement ticket sales. Meanwhile, due to focus on fundraising, as well as public awareness of Cabrillo's uncertain future, new season subscriptions fell short of projections. Now a donor has stepped forward who wishes to provide financial support forCabrillo, and, at the same time, entice others in the community to join the Cabrillo Family by subscribing to the 2014-2015 season.Says Lewis Wilkenfeld, Cabrillo Music Theatre's Artistic Director, "One of the great successes of our campaign has been in creating public awareness. Now the community isn't just aware of the need to support locally-produced arts organizations -- individuals are stepping up and challenging each other -- and local businesses -- to do the same!"
Response has been positive to the new season, which is led by MARY POPPINS, and featuring the new Tony-winning Best Musical, MEMPHIS, Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic OKLAHOMA, and, as a bonus show, Stephen Sondheim's classic, COMPANY. Continues Wilkenfeld, "There are theatregoers in the region who are going to come to more than one show, and they don't yet realize it's cheaper and easier to buy the entire season than to buy two shows individually. Maybe they're on the fence -- maybe they think they're not 'subscriber material' -- and now, hopefully, thanks to this matching grant challenge, they'll take the plunge!" Adds Wilkenfeld, "Everyone wins: Cabrillo Music Theatre gets much-needed subscriber support and a donation -- and the new subscribers find out what our 20-year subscribers already know -- and they'll never go back to single tickets again."Videos
