(01/13/2020) - Asolo Rep kicks off its winter repertory season with Agatha Christie's MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. The classic edge-of-your-seat murder mystery will be brought to the stage with a new adaptation by two-time Tony Award-winning master of farce Ken Ludwig and directed by Asolo Rep Associate Artist Peter Amster. MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS previews January 8 and 9, opens January 10 and runs in rotating repertory through March 8 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

(03/25/2019) - This Tampa Bay professional theatre premiere is now playing through April 14. Crumbs from the Table of Joy stars Alicia Thomas (Ernestine), Rae Davis (Ermina), and Michael J. Kinsey (Godfrey) as the Crump family. This break out play of two-time Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined) is the coming of age story of a young African American girl whose family is finding their way through 1950's Brooklyn, as she teeters between filtering her life experiences through the fantasy of movies and learning the real poetry and pain of the world. They've dusted off their trunks full of everything from skulls to skirts and daggers to dinosaurs for a revival of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] running Mar. 15 - Apr. 7 in the Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center, where Jobsite is resident theater company. Having shrunk Willy's wit and wisdom into manageable morsels of madness, they tear around the stage in doublets and Converse on a riotous romp through all 37 of Shakespeare's plays plus the sonnets all in an hour and a half.

Winner of a record twelve Tony Awards including 'Best Musical', The Producers sets the standard for modern, outrageous humor. The story centers around down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, Max Bialystock (Matthew McGee), and his mild-mannered accountant, Leo Bloom (James LaRosa), who come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, bilking their backers out of millions of dollars. (05/09/2017) - Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota recently announced the winners of the 2017 National Piano Competition. The competition rotates each year between, piano, voice and string instruments and is open to talented young musicians who are residents of the United States. The finals were held April 29 at the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center in Sarasota. A total of $21,600 was awarded to eight contestants. Scroll down for photos!

(03/27/2017) - On March 24 in Ferguson Hall at the Straz, by the talents of The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA), in collaboration with the It Gets Better Project and Speak Theater Art, through it gets better I experienced the heartbreak of it all. I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster of anguish and sorrow contrasted by love and laughter, and the thread that ran through every dialogue, every song that it, indeed, gets better if you have hope.
