Merrigong Theatre Company Will Perform TWO WEEKS by Siobhán Doran-Chaston
The intimate play runs at Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, exploring life, death, and love between a twenty-something couple.
Merrigong Theatre Company's annual artists' program, MERRIGONGX will present Two Weeks by Siobhán Doran-Chaston at the Illawarra Performing Art Centre from the 28th to 30th May 2026.
First drafted over twenty years ago, loosely inspired by the lives of Siobhán and her now-husband, and her work as an usher at Riverside Studios in London, Two Weeks is an intimate play that tackles the big questions — life, death, the universe — to uncover the staggering truth, beauty, humour, and triviality in all our lives.
Rosie and Tom are a seriously loved-up, screenwatching, couch-rotting, twenty-something couple who spend their nights riffing on everything and nothing.
But as they find solace (and a quiet magic) in each other and the mundane, a countdown has begun towards a cataclysmic event that will change everything.
Playwright, Siobhán Doran-Chaston said, “I first wrote Two Weeks more than 20 years ago, long before I'd lived much of what it explores. MERRIGONGX's support in developing the work has been, frankly, life changing - to now see it on the same stage where I've watched so many shows feels just extraordinary.
The play follows a young Wollongong-based couple facing love, grief and the fragility of time; told through gently irreverent storytelling and set against the deceptively mundane backdrop of two ordinary weeks in their lives.”
MERRIGONGX is Merrigong's annual artists' program. It focuses on supporting artists to take creative risks. MERRIGONGX places artists and their practice at the centre of their community. From in-house creative developments to fully staged public presentations of new work and everything in between, MERRIGONGX provides independent artists with essential financial, technical, marketing and artistic resources.
Performances will run Thu 28 May, 7:30pm; Fri 29 May, 7:30pm; Sat 30 May, 7:30pm at the Bruce Gordon Theatre – Illawarra Performing Arts Centre. For this event there is no set ticket price. Instead, simply reserve a spot, show up, then pay what you feel the performance is worth afterwards.
