Matthew Mitcham burst onto the cabaret scene in 2014 with the refreshingly real, multi-award-winning musical comedy, Twists and Turns and in 2017 he returns with a brand-new show, UNDER THE COVERS, 19th to 23rd July at Sydney's Hayes Theatre Co.

Mitcham returns with even more effervescence, charm and hilariously-brutal honesty as he delivers a few Public Service Announcements he's learnt through trial and (mostly) error...plus a few new tricks stuffed up his bulging sleeves. Matthew has become renowned for his unique approach to story-telling that is both raw and compelling.

Accompanied by cross-dressing cabaret legend SPANKY (two times Best Cabaret Perth Fringe World winner), this brand new all singing, all dancing production will make audiences feel better about their own life choices in perfect three-part harmony.

Under The Covers has been created by the same team who creatEd Matthew's previous multi-award- winning musical comedy Twists and Turns; including Matthew, award winning director Nigel Turner- Carroll and international cabaret sensation Spanky (aka Rhys Morgan).

"When I retired from Olympic diving in January last year, I fully expected to find the transition into my next career difficult based on what I have seen time after time with other athletes," said Matthew Mitcham. "Expecting something is not the same as being prepared for something. After six months of peanut butter jar in one hand and self-help book in the other, I decided to channel my thoughts and feelings about my experience into writing a new show."

Following the success of his first show, Mitcham has proven himself to be a thoroughly entertaining performer, even surprising audiences with actual talent. Matthew's previous show, Twists and Turns won "Best Cabaret" when it premiered at Perth Fringe World in 2015.
