After three years of Kieran Bullock taking his cult comedy festival favourite across the globe, IKEA WARS will return to Sydney for the Sydney Comedy Festival.

IKEA WARS sees Bullock turn host, referee and chaos-maker, pitting two contestants against each other in a battle royale for the ages! Two people trying to build a piece of IKEA furniture against the clock, and each other. But if you think it's going to be a straight race, think again. There will be added challenges, forfeits, and hurdles aplenty, but at the end of each night one contestant will reign supreme as the champion of Sweden*!

*title not officially recognised by the Swedish government.

Kieran Bullock debuted his solo IKEA-building comedy show at the 2019 Melbourne Fringe, churning through a rampant assortment of Sweden's flat-packed finest while chatting casually with the audience. On the last night he decided to trial a race format, as suggested by a friend, who was happy to step in as the opponent. A noisy, competitive, and chaotic hour as compared to the slightly whimsical monologue of the original, Kieran decided a race/game show format was where the future of the show lay. With further seasons of the original finding success at Perth's Fringe World and the Adelaide Fringe, it was time to evolve.

IKEA WARS debuted at Melbourne Fringe 2022 and was bigger, better, and infinitely more chaotic than the original. It was the second season at the 2024 Adelaide Fringe, deep in the heart of Fringe's famed Gluttony precinct, where the show truly hit its straps, and found its audience. A truly delicious hour of unpredictable madness and late-night buffoonery was thrust into the Adelaide Fringe spotlight, with multiple sold-out shows and strong crowds throughout. Now, in 2026, after selling out shows at the Perth, Adelaide, and Edinburgh Fringe festivals, the flatpack thunderdome is headed for the harbour city!

Coming to Sydney Comedy Festival for two shows only, Thursday May 7th and Friday May 8th, at the iconic Bondi Pavilion. It's your chance to see some of Australia's freshest and most exciting comedic talent being put through the absolute ringer – that unique Swedish brand of hell that is building IKEA furniture, and in front of a live audience no less
