Hear Next Generation Of Opera Singers at the Independent Theatre this Sunday

Following heats in Australia and New Zealand, the National Adjudicator, Swedish mezzo-soprano Catrin Johnsson, with assistance from local Adjudicators, has selected ten impressive young singers to compete at the Semi Finals Concert of the IFAC HANDA AUSTRALIAN SINGING COMPETITION on Sunday 4 June at the Independent Theatre, North Sydney. A panel in London chose an additional Semi Finalist.

Congratulations go to Damian Arnold (Tenor 25), Livia Brash (Soprano 25), Jae Kwon (Joseph) Kim (Baritone 22) and Imogen-Faith Malfitano (Soprano 24) from Sydney; Katherine McIndoe (Soprano 23) Filipe Manu (Tenor 24) and Natasha Wilson (Soprano 23) from New Zealand; Daniel Carison (Baritone 24) from Victoria; Paull-Anthony Keightley (Bass Baritone 25) from Perth; Shikara Ringdahl (Mezzo Soprano 25) from Brisbane and Lauren Lodge-Campbell (Soprano 24) from the United Kingdom.

The Semi-Finals Concert gives you a unique chance to hear the next generation of opera stars perform some of the most loved and memorable work in the classical singing canon. From charming lieder to lyrical arias, each performer sings two pieces accompanied by world-renowned accompanist and vocal coach, David Harper, as they compete to win a place in the Finals Concert. The Finals Concert will be held on Saturday 15 July at The Concourse, Chatswood.

The Australian Singing Competition is open to opera and classical singers under the age of 26, and offers a number of career-building awards making it Australasia's premier competition.
