Gondwana World Choral Festival Comes To The Sydney Opera House
To celebrate 30 years of Sydney Children's Choir, GONDWANA CHOIRS are bringing many of the world's top choirs to Sydney for a week-long festival from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 July 2019. The festival will open and close at Sydney Opera House with two astonishing gala concerts featuring some of the best youth and children's choirs in the world, and three brand new pieces specially written in celebration. The festival hub at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music will play host to a wealth of daily concerts, workshops and masterclasses.
The GONDWANA WORLD CHORAL FESTIVAL will see hundreds of young Australian and international choristers unite for a remarkable week of singing. Children and young people from across Australia, will perform alongside their international counterparts joining together in song.
Announcing the Gondwana World Choral Festival, Artistic Director and founder of Gondwana Choirs, Lyn Williams OAM, said "Choral music has the power to bring people together. When singing, these young performers are united in song and purpose and breathing as one. I can't think of a better way to celebrate 30 years of Sydney Children's Choir and Gondwana Choirs than for us to share the joy of singing and the remarkable artistry of hundreds of young choristers with audiences from far and wide."
International guest choirs coming to Australia include ESTONIAN TELEVISION GIRLS'CHOIR (Estonia), RIGA CATHEDRAL GIRLS CHOIR TIARA (Latvia), LA CIGALE DE LYON (France), INNER MONGOLIAN YOUTH CHOIR, GUANGDONG EXPERIMENTAL MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR (China), NAGOYA CHILDREN'S CHOIR (Japan), TORONTO CHILDREN'S CHORUS (Canada) and BOSTON CHILDREN'S CHORUS (USA).
GONDWANA CHOIRS is comprised of the Sydney Children's Choir, the ensembles of Gondwana National Choirs and the Cairns-based Gondwana Indigenous Children's Choir.
