Chopin's piano concertos are both early masterpieces of a fledgling musician, written (and also premiered with the composer at the piano) in happier times in his Polish homeland, before he had to leave and took up residence in the Parisian exile. Dinu Lipatti, one of the most important, it has long been legendary pianists of the first half of the 20th century, was one of the most renowned interpreters of Chopin in turn. He has also composed, is now however hardly more generally known. Bartók's ballet "The miraculous Mandarin", however, that triggered a veritable scandal at the premiere, so that further performances were immediately banned, has already blossomed into a popular modern classics.
