Mit „Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt' von Marieluise Fleisser eröffnet Barbara Frey am 16. September im Pfauen ihre zweite Spielzeit als Künstlerische Direktorin am Schauspielhaus Zürich. „Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt', ein Stück über zwei jugendliche Aussenseiter im 'Fegefeuer' einer bigotten provinziellen Kleinstadt, begründete Marieluise Fleissers Ruhm. Eine ganze Generation von Autoren sah in ihr ein literarisches Vorbild, Elfriede Jelinek nennt sie „ die „grösste Dramatikerin des 20. Jahrhunderts'. Mit „Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt' wird erstmals ein Stück von Marieluise Fleisser am Schauspielhaus Zürich gezeigt.

Moyra Davey's first solo exhibit in Europe will be at the Kunsthalle Basel June 17 through August 29 with an opening Wednesday, June 16 from 7pm-10pm. Accompanying the exhibition will be a new, fully illustrated monograph, published by Sternberg Press, with essays on Davey's work by George Baker, Bill Horrigan, Chris Kraus, and Eric Rosenberg. Today Rolex announced that acclaimed director Peter Sellars has selected Maya Zbib of Lebanon as his protégé for the 2010-11 Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. The program gives exceptional young talents in dance, music, visual arts, theater, literature, and film the opportunity of a lifetime-to work with a master in their field for a year of creative collaboration. Over the next year Sellars and Zbib will spend up to several months together, exchanging ideas and engaging in an extended dialogue about their art form. The other five protégés (profiled below) include another artist from the Middle East, two from Australia, one from South Africa, and one from the United States. Joining Sellars as a 2010-11 Rolex Mentor are Trisha Brown, Brian Eno, Anish Kapoor, Hans Magnus Enzensberger and Zhang Yimou.

In Kafkas Erzählung „Die Verwandlung' (1912) erwacht der Handlungsreisende Gregor Samsa eines Morgens und findet sich in einen riesigen Käfer verwandelt. Als Insekt in sein Zimmer gesperrt verbringt Gregor, der bisher für den finanziellen Unterhalt der Familie gesorgt hat, seine Tage im Gefühl der Nutzlosigkeit und Isolation. Der gefürchtete Vater straft den Sohn psychisch und körperlich für die Zumutung, die er darstellt, während die Mutter ihn zwar nicht aufgeben will, aber den Anblick des zum Käfer gewordenen Sohns nicht erträgt. So ist es die jüngere Schwester, die sich um Gregor kümmert. Aber auch die liebevolle geschwisterliche Beziehung verändert sich, als Grete zunehmend Gregors alten Platz einnimmt.
