"My ‘Barbiere' is applauded more and more each day, and has ingratiated himself with even the most inveterate opponents of the new school - so much so that they are becoming increasingly fond of the cheeky fellow, entirely against their will. Almaviva's serenade can be heard here at night in all the streets; Figaro's great aria "Largo al factotum" is the showpiece of all the basses, and Rosina's cavatina "Una voce poco fa" is the lullaby with which every beauty goes to bed, to awake in the morning with the words "Lindoro mio sarà".
