Ozark Actors Theatre Announces The Strong Women Of Their Season Of Strong Women

Ozark Actors Theatre Artistic Director A.S. Freeman is thrilled to announce the 'strong women' that will take the lead in each summer production of OAT's Season of Strong Women. 'This season we embarked on a national search to find the right women to lead our acting companies this year,' said Freeman, 'and I couldn't be prouder that these three women will be performing on our stage this season. They, and the incredible acting companies they'll be leading, are bound to blow the doors off the Cedar Street Playhouse with the power of their performances.'
Nominations Open for 2019 St. Louis Arts Awards

The Arts and Education Council (A&E) has opened nominations for the 28th annual St. Louis Arts Awards, the region's preeminent award ceremony honoring individuals, organizations and businesses that have made outstanding contributions to the area's vibrant arts community. The public is invited to submit nominations online through May 18, 2018. A community panel will review nominations and honorees for the 2019 St. Louis Arts Awards will be announced in June 2018.
Tennessee Williams Festival Presents A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE

Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis' production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" opens at 7:30 p.m., on Thurs., May 10, at the Grandel Theatre. Highlights to this year's production include original music composed by St. Louis-based Henry Palkes, a diverse and young cast under the direction of Tim Ocel, a Stella Shouting Contest emceed by Ben Nordstrom, and a New Orleans-style parade through Grand Center led by Harvey Lockhart.

The Muny Finds Its Brains, Courage, Heart And Fabulous Wiz For Its Production Of THE WIZ

The Muny announced today that Grammy Award-winner Nathan Lee Graham will play the title role in The Wiz. Starring alongside Graham will be Jared Grimes as Scarecrow, Mykal Kilgore as Lion and James T. Lane as Tinman. In its first Muny staging in 36 years, The Wiz is the second production of the historic outdoor theatre's centennial season. The Wiz is directed by Denis Jones and choreographed by Camille A. Brown with music direction by Darryl Archibald. The Wiz is proudly sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors.
8th STL Teen Talent Competition Chooses 15 Acts For Final Event

On Sunday, March 25th, 45 metro area high school acts competed in the Semi-final round of the 8th Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition. St. Louis performing arts professionals judged the performances and narrowed the field to 15 acts (28 individual finalists) who will move on to the finals on Saturday, April 28th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre (a list of acts can be found here).

Producer Jeffrey Seller is pleased to announce a digital lottery for HAMILTON tickets will begin in conjunction with the show's first performance (April 3) in St Louis at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.  Forty (40) orchestra tickets will be sold for every performance for $10 each.  The digital lottery will open at 11:00 AM CT on Sunday, April 1 for tickets to the Tuesday, April 3 performance.  Subsequent digital lotteries will begin two days prior to each performance.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, Amsterdam was a haven for Jewish refugees escaping the Inquisition in Portugal. A large Sephardic community resettled there and the Jews were able to practice their religion openly and peacefully. So much so that Amsterdam was often referred to as the "New Jerusalem." That brings us to the subject of the next NJT production, David Ives' New Jerusalem, the Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Torah Talmud Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656, the true story of Jewish philosopher Baruch de Spinoza who was excommunicated from the Jewish community of Amsterdam in the mid-1600's in order to keep the peace for that city's Jews.

New York actor and Cabaret artist Ari Axelrod will be bringing his Cabaret act "Taking the Wheel" to the JCC on Saturday, March 24 at 8pm in support of the New Jewish Theatre. In a show that explores his personal story and Jewish journey, Axelrod will perform songs from the Molly Picon musical Milk and Honey, "Shiksa Goddess" from Jason Robert Brown's The Last 5 Years, as well as songs from Les Miz performed in Hebrew along with many others. His director for the Cabaret is Tony award winner, Actress/Singer and, Faith Prince.
