The Rep Tops $1 Million In Single Ticket Revenue For The Second Straight Season

By:

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis' recently concluded 2017-2018 season generated more than $1 million in single ticket revenue. The nonprofit theatre's six Mainstage and three Studio Productions sold a combined $1.14 million in single tickets, which is in addition to revenue from Mainstage and Studio subscribers. Total ticket revenue for The Rep's 2017-2018 season exceeded $4.7 million.

This is the second straight season in which The Rep has topped the $1 million threshold in single ticket sales, following its record-breaking 50th anniversary season in 2016-2017.

"The past two seasons have marked tremendous strides in our single ticket sales," said Rep managing director Mark Bernstein. "Now more than ever, The Rep relies on single ticket buyers to complement our revenue from subscribers. Those patrons have made a significant impact throughout the last two years."

Leading the way on the Mainstage was the holiday comedy Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, whose runaway sales success made it the sixth highest-grossing Rep show of all time. The provocative legal drama Faceless posted the season's highest sales numbers in The Rep's 125-seat Emerson Studio Theatre, selling at close to capacity for its entire run.

"We are pleased that The Rep's work was able to reach so many people in the St. Louis region this season," said Rep Augustin Family Director Steven Woolf.

The Rep's upcoming 2018-2019 season promises to post more blockbuster sales numbers, with productions of the iconic musical Evita, the returning favorite A Christmas Story and smash Broadway hit The Play That Goes Wrong. Tickets for Evita go on sale July 18, with single tickets for the rest of the season going on sale August 6.
