St. Louis International Film Festival Screens 'Almost A Legend - The Life and Lyrics of Fran Landesman' 11/14

This Saturday, Nov. 14, the St. Louis International Film Festival will be screening the new documentary "Almost A Legend - The Life and Lyrics of Fran Landesman," at the Hi-Pointe Theatre here in St. Louis at 5:00 p.m., with a panel discussion to follow. This film will be part of a 72-minute program of short films, followed by the panel, so the whole event should be over around 6:45...
More info at http://www.cinemastlouis.org/2009/short_programs.html#sp3Fran and her husband Jay, along with Tommuy Wolf and Ted Flicker, wrote the cult Beat musical "The Nervous Set," about Jay and Fran's early life together in New York in the early 1950s, and their friendships with Beat writers Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. New Line Theatre produced the "The Nervous Set" in 2004 (with help from the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation) -- the show's fourth production ever, after its first run here in Gaslight Square in 1959, an aborted Broadway run that same year, and a later revival by Theatre Factory here in St. Louis. New Line's artistic director Scott Miller will be part of the panel discussion.The documentary uses clips from New Line's "Nervous Set" to illustrate Jay and Fran's early life together.
