New Line Theatre's Poster Art Honored

By:

Kris Wright, graphic designer for New Line Theatre from 2001 through 2005, has had his New Line work honored again. His poster design for New Line's 2001 production of the legendary labor musical The Cradle Will Rock, has been chosen for inclusion in the new book, "Agitate! Educate! Organize!: American Labor Posters" by Lincoln Cushing and Timothy W. Drescher. The Cradle poster gets a full-page reproduction. The book is available online at Amazon.com, among other outlets.

Wright has previously enjoyed other honors for his New Line designs. His Cradle Will Rock poster is also featured on the PBS website's page about protest songs during the Depression -- http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/strangefruit/depression.html

And Wright's poster for New Line's Anyone Can Whistle was selected in 2001 for inclusion in Print magazine's annual issue of the best graphic designs of the year, from a field of about 32,000 submissions.

New Line Theatre is a professional company dedicated to involving the people of the St. Louis region in the exploration and creation of daring, provocative, socially and politically relevant works of musical theatre. New Line's season continues with the regional premiere of the jazz musical "The Wild Party," April 22-May 15, and the political rock opera "Evita," July 8-31. Tickets are available through Metrotix, 314-534-1111. New Line continues to offer the New Line Free Seats, ten seats put aside for every performance, free to anyone with a valid college student ID.
