Muddy Waters' Albee Season Concludes with Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

On the heels of the well-received ensemble piece, Three Tall Women, and the daring and quirky The Lady from Dubuque, Muddy Waters Theatre Company wraps its 2009 Edward Albee season, Mothers and Other Strangers, with what is probably his best known and most respected play, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. The play will run Nov. 6-22 at the Kranzberg Art Center in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Building at Grand and Olive.

Directed by Jerry McAdams, the Tony-winning Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? offers games, sex, boozy bitterness and brilliantly funny dialogue among two couples, portrayed by St. Louis favorites Alan Knoll, Meme Wolff, Joshua Thomas and Paris McCarthy.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at www.muddywaterstheatre.com, www.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 314-799-8399. All performances are in the black box theatre at the Kranzberg Art Center, 503 N. Grand, in Grand Center.

A talkback session will occur after the Sunday matinee (2pm) on November 8 & 15. The cast (Alan Knoll, Meme Woolf, Joshua Thomas, Paris McCarthy) and the director (Jerry McAdams) will all participate in an exchange with the audience discussing the play and playwright Edward Albee in general.

Now in its sixth season, Muddy Waters Theatre Company is St. Louis' only professional theatre company that invites its audiences to explore the artistic vision and plays of a single writer each season. Past seasons have featured such playwrights as Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller and Sam Shepard, among others.
